Short-term marketing support

My company is thinking of pitching itself as a high-end, short-term, marketing team (of three) which helps start-ups (or overseas companies setting up for the first time in the UK) to establish their marketing operation. We would 'fly in', spend two/three months setting everything up, sharing our expertise and contacts and doing all the necessary creative, and then recruit a marketing manager to take over once things were established.

Does this kind of thing exist already? Is there a name for it? I keep coming back to 'consultancy' or 'interim' but it feels like it might already exist and I'm a bit late to the party!

that's a great idea although I would think there are people doing general marketing consultancy who do this as part of their general remit. Afraid I don't know any more than that. As this is a specialised service around start ups you might have a stronger USP than a general marketing consultant.

PS If you need any quality freelance design (web / print) please PM me as this is what I do! :-)

There are certainly consultancies who specialise in short term marketing, but that doesn't preclude you from starting your own consultancy and promoting the short term aspect.
Good luck
