Advice on becoming a childminder

New to all this but do hope you will be able to help me with my query. I am thinking of training to be a childminder and love the prospect of being able to earn my own money for doing something that i enjoy and am already doing with my two small ones without having to leave them and go to work. I do, however, have no idea about training, potential earnings, insurances or whom to contact to get things underway. Also how do people get over the worry about having all that responsiblity for another persons child?

this may help you bubblymum.
I registered last year so am up to date with what's required, but there are more experienced minders on here.

Hi - I've only just seen this...I registered as a childminder just over 12 months ago and love it.

With 2 under 5 (presumably) you will only be allowed 1 more under 5.

You will need a 16 hr (I think) training course called ICP (introducing childminding practice)and a 12 hr first aid course. These may be funded in your area contact your childcare information line (at the council) for info.

There may also be a start-up grant....mine was £300

The OFSTED lady was lovely and really helpful

Let me know if you need any help - Alibubbles has got a website which is great and if you search you will find info from loads of people

Good luck
