can't find the bloody thing, blaming dh of course i'm supposed to take to my new employer, am I able to get another one and if so from whom?

Not sure you can get a replacement P45.

Day-To-Day Payroll - New Employee without P45

Tell your new employer that you have lost your P45 and request a P46 from your new employer. You will be on Emergency Tax Code (see above link for another link to lookup table for that if you want to know the rate). I think then your Tax office looks up what they have on record and issue a tax coding notice, though not sure.
