Discounts for government workers

I took a job in my local council with huge pay cut but ideal for my family life as it is just across the street from my house.
I am trying to figure out if there are ways for me to save money. I found out that my local gym has a discount for council employees I am a member and will be looking to reduce my rate.
I found out that Hilton Hotels give 33% discounts to uk government workers, we have holiday this summer so may use that.
Are there anything else that I can explore in order to minimise our expenses?

I worked for the council about 8 years ago. I cannot remember the name of the page but it was for council workers and was a lot of discounts on days out, holidays etc. worth asking around. If your a member of a union, then they will have a similar thing :)

Check with HR. They will ether tell you which local retailers they have negotiated discounts with or will point you to an intranet webpage which has this info.

You will save loads of money by not going to the gym but spending the time you would have used getting there, changing, exercising, showering, getting dressed and getting home going for a long brisk walk or run>
