Notice periods

I will soon be returning to work after maternity leave and have a question re my notice period. When I return to work I am paid double pay for the first 3 months. I only want to return for this set period. My notice period is 2 months so if I went back for a month and then handed in my notice is there any way they can get out of paying me the money? There is nothing in their maternity policy that deals with this.

The 3 months additional pay is actually advertised as 'six months maternity pay' but with 3 months of it payable on return to work. The only clause that deals with clawing back maternity pay is to say that if you don't return to work after maternity leave they reserve the right to ask you for your maternity pay back.

Doesn't sound like they can claw it back if you happen to be serving your notice at the time, no.
