Hello. The best way to stop feeling trapped is to take control, even if it's only in a small way and even if it's just what you don't feel like doing! Everyone deserves a Job they are happy in you deserve it too! Make a start, Call the adult careers service (open 8am to 10pm ) and talk through options. 0800100900

Go, on take control, start to make your life better. Everyone has skills that are useful. If you're on here you're Probably a parent, which means you have: communication skills, organisational (multi tasking!), maybe creative skills (painting, making), probably the patience of a saint, good with kids, cooking, ability to manage finances and budget , the list goes on.

And if you can't immediately get a paid new job could you do a bit of part time volunteering to help get new skills?

Never underestimate yourself. Get out there and show the world what you are made of, you wonderful woman!

Is there no way you could afford to retrain? You really do sound so unhappy in your job and you must get out for your own sake.
Like Ashbeeee said, you have many, many skills that you could use in another area. Use them and don't dwell on the present (although I know it is hard to do so when you bring pennies in).
Big hugs xx

Got a meeting with manager on Tuesday. Have spoken to the union and they advised not to tell her I can't do the job as they might take me down capabilities

Thank guys. The trust I work in is very small unlike the other trusts I've been in so finding a new role may be challenging. I just don't want to go back and there be no changes so I go off sick again. I take propranolol prn for anxiety and I have arranged to see a counsellor next week. I just feel like I'm boxed in and as I'm struggling to get a new job feel stuck. I went for a band 5 post last week and didn't get the job- I think they had someone lined up as that job I did for three years on a band6 so if be very surprised if my answers weren't good enough. It's just hard as the more jobs I don't get the lower me confidence goes

Hi,

I would take your union rep in with you. Also, HR if they can make it. HR can often suggest things that a manager wouldn't.
Hope you get somewhere xx

Thanks guys. Basically my manager told me that they are upgrading two members of staff to help me. I don't know how I feel but I imagine it will be positive and share the load a little still have many applications in so if I do get an interview will have to think about whether I attend or ride it out where I am! Overall it's mainly positive

That is good. At least it will take the pressure of you a bit and it may be enough to keep you there. Are you keeping your 7? I guess the other two members of staff will be glad of promotion.
Hope it goes ok. Let us know how you get on.
