Any freelance marketeers around?

Thinking about exploring this as an option, overall marketing plans and implementation for SMEs locally. Initially around my PT employment. I've done quite a bit of free friend work very successfully.

Anyway I have no idea where to start in charging. If you are in the same game do you charge for time or set project fee and how much?

Do you mark up or charge at cost for subsuppliers eg print, design, webwork etc?

Thanks!

It depends. If I'm working on an ongoing basis it's normally a set fee per month which equals a number of hours/days. If I was preparing a plan that I would implement, that's part of the fee. If it's a one off project, ie a plan they can work on themselves, then it's a one off cost agreed in advance. I don't mark up suppliers as I tend to get them to charge the client direct but this is unusual. Most do mark up. I don't want to carry the financial risk of 3rd party costs.

Thanks that helps. Do you mind me asking what base fee per hour you charge.

Where are you based? £250 sounds very low to me. I'm a marketing consultant specialising in content creation and I charge £65p/h (but generally quote by the job).

Yorkshire.
I have a few friends who are a Freelance marketeers and I do something related and our day rates are £250-300 per day.

It depends on the client.

Downloading their accounts from the Companies House is a good use of £1 I find....
