Hi

I have a job interview for high school office admin job next week but before the interview I was asked to attend the unofficial school visit and as I never been to one before I would like to ask a few questions.

  1. What to wear on a school visit?- a suit or maybe more casual- I am thinking work dress
  2. What to expect from such visit ? Will I just be shown how the office operates on usual school day or will I be asked any questions by Head Teacher?
  3. What to ask if I have an opportunity to make a good impression
I have been out of work for 3 years now and my self confidence reached rock bottom any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you

I went for a job where I visited the school before the interview. I would go in business dress. I got shown around. I would prove that I havd researched the job. Look at the Ofsted report, any newsletters about what they have done recently.

Good luck!

thanks TheDailyWail

It wasn't actually that bad I expected to be stressed out of my brain.
Now all I need is to prepare for the interview, any tips?
I have researched school reports read latest newsletter but still cant really think about questions to ask, I was told about the size of the team and about working environment on the tour so would career progression be appropriate question?

Yes that would be good. My favourite question to ask is what will be my key performance indicators/ how will I know If I am successful in my job role? What is the school's main focus? Attendance etc.
When I went for a job in a school I was up against 2 other people. 1 worked in another school and the other was an internal applicant - I thought I had no chance! (I got the job)

Okay so get some examples together and rehearse talking about them;
Working as a team
Keeping to deadlines
Multitasking
Managing a successful project
Really important - smile and nod and really be passionate about the role.
good luck! let me know how you got on. Smile
