I'm looking for an audio transcriber

I am hoping this is the right place to post this. I am looking for an ad hoc audio transcriber.

I set up my own business three years ago as I wanted to be a stay-at-home mum. I have now got to the point where I quite often have too much work to deal with on my own and have to turn it down.

So I have decided to take on an additional transcriber for these busy periods. The pay is £36 per hour of audio (which should take between 3 and 4 hours to transcribe). Accuracy is of utmost importance, so an excellent grasp of the English language is a must. Unlike copy typing, with audio typing you have to decide where to punctuate, so knowing where to put commas, semi-colons, etc. is essential (and knowing how to spell really helps). Also, you will need to have your own pedal, a transcription software such as Express Scribe downloaded and a decent pair of headphones.

If you are interested, please let me know. You will then need to pass a file test, which I will send to you. For further information, please see my website at www.protypeservices.co.uk.

At present, this will not be regular work as it depends on how much I get through each week. However, this is an expanding business so there will definitely be more work coming in, in the future.

£36 is VERY low!

I thought so too Peppermint but wasn't sure what rates are like in the UK for contractors. Certainly I pay my girls more than that, and I pay them on the basis of hours worked rather than per audio minute/hour.

I do charge per audio minute - the going rate starts at £1.50 per min for two speakers. So £90 minimum, not £36.

Peppermint Crayon - I'm looking for audio transcription work at the moment. Not sure how it works these days but I have seven years audio experience, gained when I worked at a Lloyds Bank Typing Unit when I began my career. We used the old "Grundig" and a pedal then, lol. Have kept up my typing skills over the years and I really liked audio. Thought it was dying out but now I'm looking in that area I realize it's still around. Are you looking for anymore typists?

Sorry I don't hire people, I am just a solo freelancer and that's one of the things I do.
