Hi, at the moment i work at a local superstore mornings only and i would like to take on a second job in the evenings.
It would be something like cleaning or care work but i don't know what to do regarding the P45.
Do i have to show the 2nd employer my P45 or does my 1st employer have to just give them a reference even though i'm still working for them.
Also i don't want to increase my hours in the superstore as mornings are enough for me.
Please let me how it works legally.
Thanks, Adele.

You cannot get your P45 from supermarket unless you leave their employ. Ask payroll of 2nd employer for a P60 form - it is used for employees who don't have a P45. Employer will send it to Inland Revenue who will issue you with a new tax code.

You have to complete a P46 stating that this is not your main job. That should straighten it out for you.
