Have I been shafted?

I work for an organisation (company a) that has recently been brought (by company b) and they also own another company doing broadly similar work (company c). They have decided not to have any one at my level but instead have an overall senior person covering both company a and c and that role (which is a new one) can only be done by someone at company b and therefore not a redeployment opportunity for me. Can this be right! It appears my only 2 options is redundancy or taking a lower grade job.

It does sound as if your current role is redundant.

Is there a sound business reason that the new role can only be done by a Company B employee?

Yes, your role has been made redundant. But they have to offer you other suitable opportunities in any of the three companies.

What should happen (I think) is that the people doing the role in companies a, b and c should be assessed, so that the most appropriate person is given the role.

I would question why only the company b employee is suitable to the new role.
