Was Hoping for some advice about my current situation...

I'm employed, FT permanent in a management role. We are currently undergoing a restructure. My role is to be merged with another's role into one, better paid job. I'm pretty sure I would get it. Interviews are late May with the new role starting in September.

However, I am currently 6 wks pregnant. Which is awesome. However, I clearly can't tell work until after the interviews when I (fingers crossed) will be 13/14 wks. I would start the new job for 8 wks and then be off for a year. Is this ok in terms of employment law?

To complicate things further, my section at work are very aware that I have been trying for a baby as I have been having fertility treatment and had a mc recently. I show very early (look about 20 wks by 12 wks) and am concerned that they will guess and not give me the role because of this...

Anyone got any advice experience?

I would just go for the role and see what happen (perhaps in loose interview clothes ;) ) . If you get it great. There is no problem (law wise ) with you doing the role fir a short while and then going on mat leave- I'm not saying your employer will be over the moon but that is thief problem not yours . Congrats and good luck .

I agree with Redcliff.

As you are with the same employer throughout, you aren't resetting the clock on your start date so you will still get SMP etc.
