I work for a small company (<20 employees) and we have just one person responsible for HR. My colleague, who is also a good friend, doesn't see eye to eye with this HR manager (to put it mildly) and will frequently email me and others with, let's say, "unprofessional" comments about her. Mainly just moaning about work things but sometimes quite bitchy comments about her appearance etc. I've told my friend that I really don't like her doing this - for one, it's just not very nice, but also I'm concerned she'll see the emails and it could impact my friend (and me!) in the future. My friend is adamant that she deletes all the emails and so thinks they won't be found. However I think that even deleted emails are likely to be kept somewhere and could be accessed, for example if there was ever s dispute between my friend and the HR manager. Who is right? Clearly she shouldn't be sending any emails that she wouldn't want to be read by others, but given that she is, is my friend correct in thinking that she can get rid of all trace of them?
