I've just started a community magazine for parents/carers in my local area and have this week published the first issue (circulation currently underway!)
I have had some enquiries about people running competitions in the magazine. I have run one for this launch issue which was in connection with a local photographer and was done as an exchange of favours. However, I'd like to be able to offer more competitions but not really on this basis.
My question is this: should I charge for the space taken in the magazine to cover the competition and if so how much? Or should I just set a minimum value of the prize offered?
I'm actually new to this whole publishing a magazine stuff and have kind of just picked things up over the last few months after having the idea to publish one, so would really appreciate any replies. Thank you in advance
