OMG, I got an interview

I've got an interview for Finance Manager in a secondary school. It's a considerable step up from the school office job I have atm, but well within my pre DC experience. I think I'm a strong candidate and I did a good application.

The head himself called to invite me to interview and it's to be a full day affair Shock In my previous career, interviews were always competency based (which are really easy to prepare for, provided you give it enough time) and my interview for my current school job was a 20 min chat type thing.

So, this time, it's to be an inbox exercise, a budgeting exercise, an interview by the school council, then a "proper" interview.

What should I expect and how do I prepare?

Congratulations on your interview!!!

I did, and then, assessed a few assessment days. But all the below relates to group exercises.

In my experience the inbox exercise is designed not to be done in the allotted time. The individual one I found impossible so just be organised, logical and get as far as you can. Often they are done in groups where they're assessing how you work together, not whether you complete the task.

In any group exercise speak a fair bit but don't dominate or be overbearing. If you don't speak you won't get any marks. Don't belittle anyone else. (I know this is obvious but the amount of people who snap at others when time is running out...)

In any group exercise never ever offer to be the one to write. As all you'll end up doing is writing down what other people say and you won't have time to say anything. So keep schtum and wait for someone else to volunteer.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

Congrats and I hope you get it! Sounds promising.
No idea how to help you prepare is that sort of thing isn't my area.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.
