Hi there! I am pregnant with baby number 4 (due 30/07/07) and I've decided that I definately do not want to return to work after my maternity leave. I am currently in recipt of tax credits which I know I am entitled to keep during my OML. Does anybody know if you are still entitled to tax credits during the period of AML? Also could I use any part of my maternity leave to work my notice if I choose to resign?
And is SMP repayable? Sorry to ask so many questions but I am not clued up about this at all! I'd like to leave work with a clean break.

Many thanks in advance ladies

Talk to money advice also there is a goverment wedsite where you can look for answers - sorry can't get a link for you. Also a helpline if it's not clear (I had to phone as got lost in the jargon).

I think if you are giving up work to look after your children you still get Tax Credits if DH/DP is working. At least according to the advert for Tax Credits you do.

Good luck, wish I did'nt have to come back

No idea about tax credits

I would recommend resigning at the end of your AML - that way you accrue a full year's holiday.
Which you get paid for
You don't have to work any notice
SMP is not repayable

Thanks Vanilla and Blonde for clearing up part of my query. Any takers for the tax credits question?
