Clarification on enhnaced mat pay? HELP!

Hiya - I've just been offered a fabulous job with pretty decent maternity benefits. The only thing I'm confused about is what they mean EXACTLY when it states:

If you are an employee of xxxx and have continuous service with xxxx of one year or more at the start of the EWC you are also entitled to xxxx's occupational scheme (basically the enhanced mat leave).

Does that mean that you have to work for the company for a full year before you fall pregnant to qualify for the enhanced mat leave?

OR does it mean that as long as you've been at the company for a total of a year by the time of your EWC you then qualify? Therefore, technically if you've been around for 6-8 months and then fall pregnant you can still qualify for the full package?

Sorry if this has been asked before?! At least with SMP they make it clear that it's 15 weeks before EWC. Just need this cleared up with the exact meaning.

Thank you!!

Doesn't look confusing to me.

If you've been there a year at start of EWC then you get enhanced package. so yes you can get pregnant circa 40 weeks before then

What's EWC? Is it not estimated week of conception, so you would need to be employed a year prior to falling pregnant?

Expected week of childbirth - so you should qualify if you work for the company for over three months before you fall pregnant.

Thanks. Just wanted second and third opinions.
