30 minutes doesn't sound realistic at all tbh. West London is a big place anyway, but even if it's the bit nearest St. Albans or nearest the M25, it's still going to be pretty hideous I'd imagine. Would it be a rush hour commute?

At rush hour, it could take 30 mins to get out of West London, never mind actually getting anywhere else. However, as Flowery said, it's a big place, can you be more specific about where you live and people can advise more accurately? Also where in St Albans are you commuting to? Centre of town, far side from where you live, somewhere in between?

Surely if you live in West London you know that it wouldn't be at all possible to do that in 30 mins? I used to do Mill Hill Broadway to Dunstable and that was 35-40 mins.

PrimalLass · 09/02/2015 20:04

Actually, ignore that. It depends where you are. The bit to the M25 was usually ok.

newlifebegins · 09/02/2015 22:19

live near A40 ...so depends on m25?

No way are you going to be sitting at a desk in St Albans 30 minutes after getting on to the A40.

PrimalLass · 09/02/2015 23:21

Depends where on the A40 I guess, and how bad that junction is. As I said, I did nw7 to Dunstable (j11m1) in 35 mins. But that was nearly 20 years agoShock

You need to do the journey in rush hour. I'd say it will be more like an hour an thirty minutes unless you want to get up at the crack of sparrows...

violetbunny · 10/02/2015 05:23

No way would that take 30 mins in rush hour... I'd say over an hour.

I do luton to Harrow down the m1 and that takes approx 1 hr in morning rush hour. I avoid driving in rush hour to be honest as it takes so long! I work funny hours most days. If I did the drive now it would be about 35 mins.
