Am I an employer

Am I an employer if I pay someone to work for me for one week? I run a company which is just me, but I am running a course and need a fellow worker to run it - I am paying him for 3 days. The CAB says I am an employer if I pay someone regularly, but I'm not envisaging running this course again this year so won't be paying him again. Do i need to check with my insurance company? Thank you in advance

If you give him responsibility for making sure the course is delivered but don't specify he has to deliver it then he is not an employee.
