Am I doing the right thing here?

not 100% sure I am, we're struggaling a bit (esp this month - the first when i've not brought any money in after mat leave), so i'm lookinh at going back to work till the spring time and DH's money goes up again so I can stop.

i'm looking at 16 hours one week 20 the next on a 2 week rota, working evenings nad w/e's thou - the job i'm going for is 2.45-9.45 sat and sun, and one day during the week (roughly the same times) childcare wise joey will be with DH or my mum on the w/e and DH on an evening, althou he'd have to go to a childminder for 2/3 hours p/w until DH came home to get him.

i'm just not sure it's the right thing by him, what if something happens or he needs me or something? (i'm sure this is more my hang up than his) it's just as I say the money issue for a minute. I love being a SAHM thou so much

(job will pay approx £140 p/w after tax. so would also loose some credits.

didnt want this to drop out of active convos hun, but all i can say is you have to do whats best for you.

Will the reduction in tax credits still make it worth your while working? Especially once you pay a childminder.....

If you arent 100% happy with the idea, i wouldnt bother, but it has to be your decision. (and it would also mean dropping the night bf i assume)

yues it would but I wanted (half hearted) to stop BF anyways, it's just the bills are mounting up and I don't know what to do bar go back to work - money wise we'd gain that I guess loose about £20 p/w childcare, so call it £100 after petrol and childcare etc - but I'd miss the bedtime bit and he settles better for me than DH, i'm just so unsure about it being best for him iycwim.

we already have tightened out belts - althou I guess we could tighten them a little bit more to cover it - tbh i'd ratehr work from home so I don't have to miss anything - hence the aovn, I was looking to choclate partys as well - but no one's rung me back about that yet

we have sky but are tied to a contract - apart form that we have no luxuries (the screen select yes I asked DH to stop) everything goes on the bills pretty much I guess we could get a calender to keep a better track of the money but tbh I think we have about £200 max after everything's paid and the food etc has been brought.

i'm doing avon - have tried ebaying some stuff sold very weel. i'd like to set up a shop or soemthign but i've no idea on how to go about that (ebay shop I mean) not bothered aboutt eh posting out etc as there's a post offi ec right next door to where I go for tots which is 4 mornings a week (£2 mine/joey's luxury) DH somkes baccy.

it's just with the £100 it would clear immediate bills and pay for xmas, but as u say i'm not 100% sure and I was so happy when DH agreed I could be a SAHM.

Could you get registered as a childminder and perhaps do this a few days a week instead - then you get to be at home and earn money at the same time

I thought about it - but I have 2 dogs - one german sheppard one staffy so from that point of view i'm put off - don't get me wrong they're excelelnt with joey it's just he's mine iycwim - not saying it doen't matter if they hurt him but if they did another child (not that I think they would) but if they did i'd never forgive myself.

just thinking of other ways then to shave off the money - obviosuly bank charges 90 which this month are £90 bloody DH.

Could you earn it from home in some way? I do quite a bit of writing that would pay me that for less than an hour's work. I used to send things out speculatively. It never seemed that hard to get extra money. Also marked exam papers from home. Could you rent out a room?

Usually I say go back to work because it often makes people feel better, never mind bring in money and that alone can be worthwhile.

waht sort of writing zeina/how did u get into the marking papers? althou I have no qualis in that direction at all.

we're unable to rent a room i'm afraid as we rent from the MOD and it's a big no no, besdies we only have the 2 rooms.

£90 in bank charges sounds high munz. are these penalty charges for unauthorised borrowing? if so you may be able to restructure borrowings to lower your charges?
