Dh was dismissed beginning of Dec. Had his appeal meeting over 3 weeks ago. Has heard nothing back....how long is a reasonable amount of time before he goes to acas for early conciliation? Thanks.

Every employer should document their policies and procedures for grievances and disciplinaries and this should be written in an employee handbook or something similar. If the employer hasn't documented what he thinks is a reasonable mount of time to respond to an appeal, then your Dh needs to write a letter requesting their decision. This letter should be recorded delivery or something that you can use to provide evidence at a later date. State in this letter that you expect a response within two weeks, andt that if you don't hear anything by then you can start to submit an application for unfair dismissal. (that is what i presume you are going for )
It wouldn't hurt to look on the acas web site on what your next steps would be based on the outcome of his appeal. Tribunal hearings are not as straightforward as people think and there is a lot of preparation work to be done with timescales in which to do it. Some hearings once accepted to be heard by the tribunal can take up to two years to be heard.
