working tax credits - chasing up

I've applied for working tax credits... but how long do/should I wait after the initial approach? It must be getting on for a fortnight now? And do I have to go through the bill-busting hassle of a long on-hold call their hotline to chase things up - or is there another way...

It takes up to 5 weeks to get a decision on eligibility so no point ringing yet.

Hello, i have 3 daughters 8, 3 and 3. My husband works 25hrs and i work 8hrs, we both recieve working tax credits as a couple, I've currently joined a company called younique, which is an American company that launched here on1.11.14, with it i am classed as self employed, I've made £600 in commission since 1st November, but know i will never make that much all the time, it was because of launch, I've only had 1 sale since end of November. I havnt declared it yet, I know I have till 1st February to let inland revenue know, what I'm worried about is change in my tax credits. Will it affect them drastically? Is it worth me doing younique? I'll probably earn around £1500 - £2000 a year extra with younique, the reason I started is because my current 8hr job i have is not secure, im waiting for them to make me redundant, it's just a matter of time that I'm next. Any help would be grateful as im stressed out about not telling inland revenue straight away, I wasn't sure if this was going to be worth doing. Sorry for the long post, this is my first post on here xx

On another message-board, it did suggest that 4 weeks was a more likely estimate than the two it is supposed to take... so maybe I'll hang in there a bit longer...
