Employer taking tax and NI before childcare vouchers?

Can anyone help, I have been having a few issues with pay recently!

My employer keeps on taking tax and NI off my full salary for example £2000 and not off the salary after childcare vouchers so £1757.

So each month I am paying high amounts of tax and NI I'm actually earning less than when I was on maternity leave

Any help/advise? Is this legal?

Are you in a salary sacrifice arrangement for childcare vouchers? If you are then the vouchers should be deducted from your gross pay and not after tax and NI have been deducted.

Give payroll a ring and find out what they are doing. Should be childcare off first (if in salary sacrifice) then NI/tax.
