Hi

Just a quick one really. Due to go back to my school but have the opportunity to get another job in an academy in the same la. Will I have to repay my maternity if I do not return to the same institution?

Thanks in advance!

If it's an academy then it's highly likey you will have to pay it back unless you already work within the academy chain.

You might be able to negotiate the academy pays it on your behalf as a retention bonus but again that's unlikely!

If it's an academy it classes as changing employers so yes.

You have to pay maternity pay back if you change employers. Not if you stay with same employer. So:

Move from one LEA school to another school in same LEA = fine
Move from academy school to another school in same academy group = fine

Anything else, not fine.
