what can I do from home?

preferablly as DH goes away on short notice, after working out loss of tax credits etc it's not really feisable to work during the day and I love being a SAHM too much, but with xmas coming up a little spare cash would be nice.

already doing avon - had a v sucessful first month.

already on our estate we have kleenze, mini iq vie thingy bodyshop.

so any other ideas are more than welcome.

Be careful as there are lots of scammy work from home things. You could train to be a childminder, you could host jewellry/ tupperware/ baby items/ ann summers parties. You could do a paperround (get fit and earn money!!!)

jewlery? do u know of any ones? not keen on AS, childminding I looked into, but with 2 dogs - one GSD I thought it wasn't a good idea - not that i'm worried about the dogs it's just a personal thing to be safe iycwim, besides I don't think i'd like Joey at a minders house if she had dogs and we didn't iycwim.

how would u charge thou - per bag or per no's of items? say £5.50 p/h or something like a bag of 25 items is £10? or somehting??

i would say diff price for type of items, eg, £1 a shirt, 50p trousers/skirts, £2 duvets and sheets etc...

I've just started card making actually - can u make a little bit from it or not really? (in fact might be an opening for that as our lady on the estate is leaving soon so that's a possiblity.

Not sure, they do exist though you could ring one up and ask what their rates are? I'd use one deffo if I had the spare cash.

I started doing avon, i now sell usborne childrens books too, find it works really well well with my 2 girls. I take them to playgroups,softplay centers, do book parties in the eve and do bookfairs at schools/nurseries. Loads of potential and really flexable. I've been doing it 3 months and have made team leader, have to say i'm really enjoying it too! Email me if you'd like anymore info [email protected]

There are websites that will pay you to write things (like answer.com). The pay is criminal low (like £2-£4/hour), but you can at least fit it around childcare.

gem - not sure i'd get the intrest after having a mini iq on here already, I was thinking about selling on Ebay - not sure if anyone does thta or waht I could sell.

hi, i've tried ebay and found it a lot of owrk for little return. The market is flooded already. Same with cards i think you'd find every man and his dog are hand making them, sorry to sound harsh but if you have a look on ebay there are hundreds!.
There are some other good direct selling companies on www.dsa.org.uk Perhaps see if anything interests you and then ask around ( i looked at pheonix but decided against it...i know an organiser though if you want any more info). TBH i don't know a lot about mini-iq but do they sell to schools/nurseries/playgroups and softplay centers? Maybe there would still be a gap in the market, they do books for all ages right til 16.

right so going to do an avon party at my house, and also do some cards up to sell there, (can take those to tots and that), was also going to put up a sign in the shop about ironing services. just gotta sort out a pricing structure for that. thanks for any more tips/advice thou.

Munz I had the same problem as you and I did Ann Summers parties which was brilliant (mostly because it gave me soooo much confidence) but its hard work doing parties (whether its Ann Summers, Virgin Vie and the like) because you have to spend time during the day for deliveries (in Ann Summers case), canvassing for parties, paperwork, etc

More on the long term could you not train to do something as Adult learning is pretty flexible. Thats what I did in the end and became a hairdresser

What I do is have people come to me...I tried to got to peoples house but you never know if they somewhere suitable to set up especially when using colour. I had problems with crappy shower sprays etc etc.

Loads of people do mobile and are really successful but for me knowing that my shower is powerful enough and have enough hot water; that I can sweep/wash my kitchen floor because its hardwearing laminate; and my children can could play with their own toys is very valuable.

I would also like to note that if you can work in a salon during or after you qualify it is essential for confidence and real hands on training in a salon environment
