Hi,
Pleeeease someone advise me what to do next.
I went onto maternity leave in March and since then my employer has moved premises to 27 miles away (due to financial difficulties). I do not drive so I cannot get there to be able to return to work.
When I was notified of the move it was by informal chat by telephone. During the same conversation my boss let me know the opportunity to return to part time hours was there for me. I expressed that although I was grateful I would need to look into transport. He offered to sort with a colleague lifts to and from work for me and when he returned to me with the offer, it was hours unsuitable for my child care.
After a couple of weeks looking into what I could do, I had to return to him by email that I couldn't accept the lifts as the hours didn't suit. I also told him I couldn't depend upon someone else to get me to work as my earnings would be dependent on their annual leave and sickness and also that public transport was out of the question as the building is in the sticks and also getting anywhere close would cost too much and take 2 and a half hours.
I emailed on the 1st October and am yet to get a direct response. I leave it a week at a time before chasing up, and the most I have heard is being copied into an email to someone else asking them to deal with it.
I have completed 2 full years of employment, and when I went to CAB for advice (before I started the emails) they advised me I would probably be entitled to redundancy. It is my opinion that work know my entitlement and due to their financial hardship they are ignoring me in the hope I will resign.
I also know they have made my maternity cover redundant and advised him they "could not afford to keep him on"
I have also spoke to ACAS who were no hope what so ever.
What do I do now? Someone please help. I need this sorting before end of November when my SMP stops.
