Change of location

Long story but I just got a new boss. Last week she decided to change the location I work at for 1 day a week, no notice given. My contract States I can be asked to work at any location, however I always presumed they had to give notice. I have a child and this will affect my childcare as the new location is 30 minutes further than my current location. This was also announced at a department meeting rather than discussed first with me.
Is there anything I can do?

A mobility clause in a contract will often be more specific, such as within a certain number of miles or time, does it not say anything else? It is not reasonable to ask you to change locations without notice, even though it is in your contract. It is also potentially discriminatory to you because of your childcare responsibilities. Have you raised this issue with your manager?

No contract just states any location which is a pain, never took much notice of it as as I a,ways though it meant for meetings etc not a permanent move.
I intend to ask my manager for a meeting, I'm part time so haven't been back in yet. As I said it was not discussed with me before it was announced, I did say I was unhappy with it but as it was a department meeting I couldn't have a discussion about it. I expected my manager to talk to me after the meeting as she had all afternoon but it did not happen. Also full time staff are not being made to go to this location, is this fair?

Sorry I can't answer your question purchase a look at the ACAS web site or ring their helpline. I 've found them helpful.
