Hi - I currently work as a lunchtime controller (yes, a ridiculous title) at DD1's school for...wait for it..... 4 hours a week over 3 lunchtimes. I really enjoy it, love working with the kids and encouraging the little blighters to eat up their cheese strings and squirty yoghurts....but I feel it is quite degrading, rubbish salary, lots of chair stacking and table-wiping involved. I have been offered a temp contract (ongoing) to be a medical PA at a local hospital for 15 hours a week - to work WHENEVER i want to so long as I do the hours they don't mind, and the hourly rate is double what I earn at the school and instead of my current 93 quid a month it would be 550!!! I know you must think I'm mad, but I feel as if I'm letting the school down by resigning (which i plan to do tomorrow), but there is no other way logistically as I need some time to be a SAHM as that is what I choose to do, and look after DD1 who goes to pre school some mornings.
Tell me I'm being mad, and encourage me to take the "too good to be true" job. I just need some positive vibes - Am such a woos with letting people down tho........

Your new job sounds great, go for it

Think of it as vacating the lunchtime job for someone else to take over - there's probably someone out there desperate for a few hours during the school day.
So go ahead, take the medical PA job and enjoy it.
