Job share

I've not worked for 4 years but an opportunity has come up at my old firm to do a job share, I would get 2 days a week and my colleague 3.

I see this as a fantastic opportunity and really really really want it, especially part time jobs just don't really come up in my field. It's not at the same level I used to be at amd a massive pay cut but I don't really care I just want to keep my hand in.

The issue we have is that the firm want us to cover all of each other's holidays. I have no issue with this in principle but the practicalities of childcare mean that it may be quite tricky in practice.

It seems a bit unreasonable as if I or my colleague did the job full time the rest of the team would have to step in whilst we were away, so why should a job share be any different?

Just wanted to know if this type if condition is normal?

Thanks
