I want a business mentor to help me think through my new business ideas - anyone interested who runs their own business?

My situation is that I am going to be able to take redundancy in about a years time if I want to. I will have a job until Spring 2008.

I really want to work for myself and I think this is an opportunity to think through what I could do.

I have a few vague ideas at the moment but that's all they are. Ideally I want something that's ethical and that I can build up to possibly sell!

I need someone who has done this to talk to and start thinking about how I can research and put a business plan together.

Can anyone help me?

Have you thought about contacting an organisation such as Business Link??

Katymac · 29/09/2006 15:37

I think you should see business link as well

They have really helped me

I don't mind bouncing ideas either

My background is in Civil service & banking along with IT ES & BA

I currently Childmind (employing 4 staff) - but my family has always run small businesses (building, newsagents, catering)

Business Link are a great source of info and have courses (or info on courses) that help you with stuff like the legal side of things, tax, insurance etc. Plus they will advise on any grants you may be eligle for. They will go through your ideas with you and help to point you in the right direction too.

Thanks everyone - have only just come back to this.

Thanks those who said they'd be happy to bounce ideas around - I need to firm up some of my vague thoughts first.
