hi

am mum of 1 soon to be 2 and just looking at possible ways to get a career. looking to get into publicity or pr or content writing etc and have a degree in journalism which i believe is relevent enough.
experience so far is pr internship and fundraiser/events coordinator but these were more than 5 years ago so feel my cv looks weak.

am hoping to do volunteer work from home (due to childcare issues) which will give training etc - am finding this difficult to set up though

any other ideas on making my cv better/getting more expr

You can try approaching charities rather than just looking at advertised opportunities on Do-it etc. Child related things may be easiest, like the NCT, local groups or magazines. Churches are an option if you are open to working for them. I know someone who does online articles as a way to advertise her husband's business, it's something which helps boost the chance of appearing on google searches and can be done at home. There are courses too, you may be able to study at home or weekend - a friend is doing a PR course as she's a press officer and attends on Saturdays ever so often. But don't put too much pressure on yourself to achieve anything big if a baby is on the way, two kids is really hardwork and finding time for a shower is tough enough, unless you have a lot of support. I didn't think about doing anything until my second was sleeping through at about a year old. Another idea, when the kids are older, is to approach companies and do a bit of work experience or shadowing, this will help expand your networking which may help find work later on, this is what I'm hoping to do in a year or so.
