Getting a part-time job while being self-employed

I'm self-employed & I love my job. I don't want to give it up for all sorts of reasons.

But, I'm a bit unfulfilled atm; previously I have taken on projects (getting DD to dance college, making costumes for the dance show), done courses (OU degree, EYP) and I'm wondering now about trying a little part-time job.

I've seen something that I fancy - it's 2 evenings a week so shouldn't interfere with my 'other' job & I'll employ someone to be 'me' while I'm not there iyswim

So how do I explain on the application form, why a (reasonably) successful business owner wants a part-time evening job (ven if it is a management position)?

Just say you're looking for more work, that should do.

It's easier for you once you get it, if you contact the tax office and tell them that your PAYE part time job is your main job, that way they don't stick you on 20% tax. You still fill in a tax return though, but you've already paid tax and NI on your part time job but it will make your tax allowance easier to work out.

Depends on the two jobs really. I work alone in my business so if I wanted a bar job for example I'd say it was because I wanted to work with people.

I run a nursery - it's quite had to explain it's not 'enough' just now

Working with other people is a good reason.

Could you say it's so you have a steady income/guaranteed work and/or it's something you are interested in?
