What to do.....

I left my full time job to take a slightly lower graded part time post. My old employer has had difficult recruiting to my old job and has upgraded the role and has today mentioned that if my new job wasn't what I expected and I wanted to return on part time hours to let them know and they would see what they could sort. What would you do, would you consider it...? Hmm

It depends. Did you move jobs so you could be part time? Is the old job doable on part time hours?

Did you like your old job and do you like the new one?

Yes, I did ask about part time hours in my old job but got no where and I do think it could be done in less hours. In terms of why I left some of the people where difficult to work with and at times not very supportive. New job is a brand new role, so there is potential for the role to grow and it is in a unique area...

Yes I would consider it if the new role wasn't really amazing. sounds like they have struggled so have adapted the role to tempt you back!

Part time hours don't come around very often let alone two at a time Smile

I'd be cautious. They might be saying p-t hours to tempt you back but would they support making that a reality? They turned you down flat when you asked when you were still an employee. Beware the trap of ending up doing f-t hours for a p-t salary.

New job has started off on the basis you want, i.e. part-time, and sounds like it has a lot more potential. Unless you are very unhappy I would stick with the new role.
