Do i need to register as self employed?

I currently work 2 days per week and pay tax/NI accordingly.

I have agreed to run a cookery course at another local school and have been told to invoice for my time. Can I just provide my own typed invoice and declare self assessment or do I need to register with HMRC (and is it classed as starting a business or being self employed. And can I still be self employed even though I am also classed as emlpoyed?)

Thanks in advance for any advice

I mean declare my earnings via self assessment, therefore still paying tax where applicable.

You need to let HMRC you are self employed for them to send you a self assessment. Just keep records of any income received and declare on your self assessment. Fine to do thus as well as employment.
