Interview question

Sillysausage2 · 16/09/2014 22:22

I applied for a job advertised in my local paper, there was no company name on it just a box no c/o local paper. They rang me for an interview and turns out I've interviewed there before. I only realised when he said the company name.
It was 4 years ago so don't think they'd remember me but would it be awkward if they do and I haven't mentioned it?
Or think that they didn't hire me that time so won't this time either?
I have 4 more years experience than I did last time and the job description is exactly what I've been doing but I just don't want to start an interview being awkward!
Should I mention it?

It's wrong to assume that because they said no 4 years ago they will again. They haven't realised yet or if they have they don't care. Staff have likely changed too. I wouldn't go out of my way to mention it, if you go and they say 'have you interviewed here before?' Answer with 'yes i did around 4 years ago.' Just like it's any other question

Agree with mamababa.

Also, depending on the company they may not cross reference with previous applications. The place I work for now doesn't and there was a cull of HR staff a couple of years ago so very little scope for personal memories.

I wouldn't actively disclose or hide it - if the question comes up, treat it as mamababa says. If it doesn't, don't sweat it.

I'll do that then, thanks!
