Curious as to what the hourly rate might be for an admin type role - partime.

Totally depends on what kind of charity and where... Some small local charities wouldn't pay much more than minimum wage, whereas if you worked in admin for a national/international charity in London, you could potentially earn £25k+ (pro rata of course).

Salaries in the sector have taken a tumble generally over the last few years. Some skilled roles that would have paid £30k+ are now advertised at around £25k. I imagine admin has gone the same way, and is probably subject to more competition. The best way to get a feel for salaries in your area would be to look at the charityjob.co.uk website (sorry, can't do linky from the app but you can paste it into your browser).

I work for a charity as a paid fundraising manager and admin salaries vary depending in size of organisation and on the role. General admin is at the lower end if the scale, however if you were looking at something like a co-ordinator role, admin based but with more responsibility, it would be higher. You don't get much in the way of employee benefits, but you do get the wonderful feeling if being part of an organisation making a difference Smile

Thank you Pumpkin.

I'm just starting as a be-friender, but am aware there may be some admin positions coming up so was just curious!

Where I work, it's £10-£11 per hour.
There may be opportunity for progression into other roles such as finance administration

Befriending is a good start
