really f#$@ed up my career so far...am 27 and have wonderful personal life - dh, dd, own home, 2 cars, pg with dc2. but i wish i had a career like a lot of my cousins with young dc.

left uni with nice degree in media and then for some reason i just got rubbish jobs in retail and care work. spent the last 3 years working and training as a horticulturalist but i hate the current job im in and want to get back into media comms and pr. thing is as am pg i must stay in this role until mat leave

Is this post for venting? I'm stuck in a rubbish job doing a job share (post mat leave) that has left me criminally wasted. They're paying me but I'm so bored and very worried that the longer I'm there the more damage I'm doing to my career. Problem is, the job I want doesn't come up all that often. The wait is killing me.

Can you bide your time until you've had DC2 and go back to the horticulture? There's no point in the whole 'be grateful for what you've got' comment cos life doesn't work like that does it?

yes get out all your bad feelings lol. just wanting a moan. yeh gotta hold out untio i go on mat leave which is abt 7 mths time. am the lowest denomenator at work and they treat us like stupid kids plus not enough ppl to do the work so were overloaded. what do u work in?

daisydee I'm also a hort and also fed up with being treated like the crap on my managers' shoes. Fed up with being spoken down to, fed up with the pay, fed up with the way my company has screwed me over recently (can't say more as too identifying). I'm lucky in that I am in a position to move on but there aren't any jobs out there that really interest me and the ones that are interesting usually need more experience or the pay is rubbish. Also thinking about going back to my old career.

kernowgal - hi glad to hear someone else thinks hort is rubbish but not glad to hear u dont like ur job. what old career will u go back to? no one else knows i hate my job so its nice to vent

I love the actual work - just wish it paid more! I used to work in finance, way back when. Not really something I want to return to, but it pays so much better.

Am a nurse...wish I could work with books or retrain...would study history...ideal world
