Repost from the chat section, hope someone here can help Smile

A bit of background, I have a degree in Linguistics (which I love!), I've been teaching English as a foreign language for the last 10-ish years which I enjoy, bit the work isn't very stable. I also worked for a year as a classroom support and tutor for a child with autism which was a great experience. I don't have any formal qualifications in SLT, but would love to train and work in this field. It looks like I can take a 2 year accelerated diploma/Masters as I already have the Linguistics degree. So..

For anyone who works in this kind of job, which qualification do you have and how tough was it to get? What kind of work do you do and do you enjoy it? I'd be really interested in children's' slt, but also working with people after strokes/brain traumas etc. Would love to hear anyone's opinions.

Hi,

I would speak to one of the senior staff at your local hospital. Or, one of the tutors at one of the universities.
I am NHS but not in speech therapy.
Good luck!
