Returning to work

I just want some advice! I have been on maternity I'm due back in 3 weeks I've spoken to my employer an she has informed me that I will have to wait 8 weeks before receiving my wages in which will only be one month as I have to work a month in advance is this correct? If so wat am I going to do for 8 weeks with no money ??'

Is that how it worked before you went on maternity leave? i.e were you paid maternity pay plus 8 weeks full pay in arrears when you went on maternity leave? Surely they can't just change your terms of employment! Maybe give acas a ring for some advice?
