any advice on how to broach this with work
found out today that childcare had in place fallen through. and I now have no one take my lo to work as I start at 8 am
hoping as do 6 hours shifts and only 7 weeks before mat leave they can push back by an hour.

any ideas how to broach with tl or overall boss

Depends on so many things: does your organisation have specific 'family friendly' policies, is your line manager likely to be sympathetic, what impact will it have on the team/workplace if you change your hours, will someone else have to start earlier to cover, can you see any hidden benefits to the organisation if you start and finish an hour later? Might be worth looking at the Flexible Working legislation to see if that helps your case.

Don't assume your line manager or whoever is the decision maker will see it from your point of view, so make it look like you have considered their perspective.

my tl is very nice and hopefully having a child be quite understanding. I work 6 hours of our 11.5 hr shifts so may b case of asking and not impacting too much other we open from 7_11 . guess only way to know is ask

You can only ask because no one here can understand your work situation. For example mine is completely flexible and can take annual leave or work from home with no notice. (But the job isn't dependent on me being present at a specific time). Good luck and hopefully your line manager is sympathetic and can work out something.
