Self employed, on MA, do I get class 2 NICs refunded?

Just that really. I'm self employed and pay class 2 NICs by direct debit. Have just had my Maternity Allowance approved and have started Maty leave. Sure I read somewhere that any NI contributions that you pay during your maty leave are refunded, or am I getting baby brain already?! x

no, the class 2 is what allows you to get maternity allowance

I think the ones you may monthly are meant to not be taken during you MA automatically.

However that wasn't the case (must admit I was a bit Hmm that it would happen automatically!!) but I just left it. I could forsee a load of toing and froing and just didn't have the energy!

Ring the gov/HMRC mat line and ask. They are helpful but as Talkin (I believe) wisely advised me on this board, call more than once in case the advice is different! Take a note of who you speak to and when.

Wishing you well.
