Hello

I have a 18 month old and am 22.5 weeks pregnant with 2nd due in jan. I have been a full time stay at home mum as my old co would not let me return pt..

My old company have said that would like me to temp for them 3 days a week for approx 6-8 weeks 8.30 -4.30 no stress for £9 an hour but this would mean putting my son into a nursery for this time. ( I expected it to be longer than this - 12 weeks approx and then when the baby is born keep my son in a nursey 2 afternoons a week). Part of the reason for going back to work was to claim maternity allowance £108 for 26 weeks after the baby is born.. In order to claim MA I need to work for approx 13 weeks so I need to advice on what type of job I could do for the remainder of time which would be approx 5/6 weeks. I have 2 options:-

  1. daytime work - but I have heard that general temp work only pays £6.50 approx an hours and once you have taken off childcare and NI does not leavevery much at all. Approx £12 day.
  2. evening work maybe 1 or 2 evenings a week - no childcare costs . This would mean taking son out of nurseryn or I pay for him to stay in nursery 2 afternoons a week.

I just wanted to get some advice and feedback from other mums and I don't want to confuse my son but also know that they are quite resilient. I just want to do the right thing.

(areas I have covered are product development/buying/customer service/call centre sales work/adminstration/ hotel work bar restaurant housekeeping.)

Advice please.
