Parental Leave

Can anyone fill me in on the rules around parental leave.

My childminder has pulled out leaving me with no childcare whatsoever. I have found a nursery who has a place for him but can only take him from the beginning of oct meaning i have 2 weeks without childcare.

Am i right in thinking that my husband should be able to request parental leave and as long as he gives enough notice, should have no reason to be denied it?
