Bouncing back from not winning work....

Just feeling sorry for myself. Missed out today on a piece of work (marketing) that I really wanted. However, I was a close 2nd and it was a bit of a long shot as they already had a supplier (I think).

I am trying to stay upbeat about it and to keep it into perspective (I have quite a bit on already & most of the time I seem to win the work I want) but it still knocks me.

Any tips or suggestions for how to move on quickly when rejection happens? What do you do?

Forget it it's their loss. Perhaps the other one was cheaper and you're not cheap, quality costs. Sometimes it is tempting to lower one's standards and costs in the false belief you're being competitive but actually, you're selling yourself short.

You're better than that, you're stronger. All success begins with self-belief and you're sure to succeed if you continue to believe.

Good luck.

I tend to 'work that bit harder' to make something happen for myself, as to specifically create a 'win' to compensate...
The key is to never take it personally I think...

You came a close second. Maybe when there is more work they will think of you. Pitching for a gig is never a waste of time.

Also think about how you pitched - I know when I haven't won a bit of work I always take a bit of time to reflect from the clients perspective, and see what I can do better the next time.

Also it means you are free to grasp the next great opportunity, that you may not have noticed if you were busy with this.

Thanks all, some good perspectives.

I just need to train the emotional/unrational part of my brain. Smile

There is part of me that just wants "it" sorted. And it is annoying my plans (of winning the work) haven't come off!!

Did you ask for feedback? It could be something easily fixed, like the way you pitched. But ('knowing' you as I do Smile) it's more likely someone promised the earth for the price of a packet of peanuts. There's a depressing amount of that about at the moment. Angry
