have not earned this year and may temp for 3 months - will I be taxed?

hello -

I have been off with my son full time and am thinking about temping for 3 months pt befire my second is due. Would I be taxed traight away if I have not earnt anything this year and then have to claim it back ? thank you in advance

You will get taxed and will have to claim it back(unless you earn under the miniumum for each week)

According to my DH you won't be taxed until you earn £2,514 (£5,030 personal allowance, presuming you are on a 503L code, divided by 12 multiplied by 6), if you start working in October. However if you haven't got a Tax Code at the moment your employer may put you on a Basic Rate tax code until they get official notification from the tax office of your code. However once this is sorted out you should be automatically be given the refund in your payslip, provided you are still working and still receiving a payslip.

It's a bit garbelled but I hope that helps.
