hi dh has quite a stressful job and is also studying to get qualifications for his job so hes working everyday this month. he likes his job but gets stressed. tonight he came home drunk and flipped abt dinner not being right, feel like shirley valentine! hes gone to parents now and has to be at college at 8am. hes also on anti biotics for tooth pain. i work 3 days and recently turned down a promotion which would have meant i worked more hours. i just dont know what else to do to support himSad

Why did you turn down the promotion ?

Drinking and antibiotics never a good mix tbh

he flipped in what way? was he violent or abusive to you?

RoseyHope · 08/08/2014 20:34

Oh dear. Try not to take it too personally, working for weeks/months on end with no days off has a much greater effect on people than we first think. Can you sit down with him and have a talk about management things. What calms him down and destresses him? Eg going for a run in the evening or a really hot bath for 20 min. Make sure he has the time to do those things when he gets in.

And talk about how long this is really feasible for, how much longer will he need to spend working this way? Is it possible for him to make his college course more part time than it already is?

hi no not abusive towards me in any way, yes ive told him he cant drink with antibiotics but its the only way he seems to deal with stress. turned down promotion for number reasons - not better off financially with extra childcare, less time with dd, am pg also so hey ill get a career later on lol. want to be supportive, cant imagine what hes going through but walking on egg shells. not sure how long his work will be like this as they just lost 1 member of staff. college is all set up and paid for but should only be 10 weeks long
