Any Medical Journalists?

I am considering attempting to change career direction & am interested in medical journalism. I have 15 years experience in healthcare (NHS) but would like to do some specific journalism (writing) training.

My questions are 1. Can anyone recommend an online course provider? I have seen several online but how do I know which are reputable?

  1. Is it possible I can successfully pitch for/be commissioned for work whilst working entirely from home?
  2. What kind of work could I expect to get as a beginner?

Any advice would be very welcome! Thanks.

hi just considering the same but in horticulture. i found it useful in ringing up publications you could see yourself writing for and asking questions.

i have a journalism degree i did nothing with Sad and been working as a horticulturalist.

one editor i spoke to said she didnt worry about qualifications just talent but it will be mostly freelance to start. need portfolio and blog and specialise within the industry ie profile pieces.

to get paid need to get an outline of article and approach a publication with the idea
