I am having problems with work regarding my working hours need help with my contract. I have a variation to a permament contract of 0.5 (half a full time contract) - the contract states within these 195 days (of work) 630 hours will be allocated reasonably to you by the principal. Does anyone know if I could push the point that 'reasonable' allocation of hours for half a full contract would be 2.5 days (as a full timer works over 5 days) - 2.5 days is what I have been working for 2 years now and I have been asked to change to working these hours over 3 days. Presumably 3 days may be seen as 'reasonable' as well. It is all a bit vaugue.

That's where the sex discrimination thing we were talking about on the other thread comes in. A lot of the test cases have been on this type of contract when the employer tries to vary when the hours are worked.

You need a good, specialist lawyer. Your union should have one but if they aren't handling all of this stuff for you then find one yourself. You ought to win this.
