I have just been offered 2 jobs one 4 evenings a week + every other Saturday & one 2 nights a week (10pm - 6am).
I am leaning towards the 2 nights as its for my old company & much better money also I think it will have less impact on my 3 children & my other half BUT I am worried about the sleep aspect. My older 2 are at school but my youngest is only 8 months & veerrryy clingy. My mum has said she will have him but I'm concerned that I will be worrying too much to sleep. Any tips from anyone who works nights or has in the past.
Thanks

I have worked mixed shifts, including nights for about 8 years. I haven't gone back to work yet and will find it difficult working nights again because my partner also works shifts and there is no-one available to look after out son during the day.
However, even though I was previously the kind of person who could only sleep at night in a dark room, I found I was so knackered when I got home that I had no problem sleeping after nights. The council have even dug up the road outside my house without me hearing it!!!
My partner still works nights and he manages to get to sleep, even though we have a noisy baby in the house.

I work 3 evenings a week 5-midnight and it works really well for me. I get to spend all day with my ds who's 2 and get to take/pick up from school my dd. I am home and in bed by 1am so get enough sleep to cope with the days.

Hi, i work nights and have 2 at school and one at home have been doing them since she was 6 months. I work 8 to 8, 2 nights one week 3 the other, Try to go to sleep before night for 2 hours and then get about 3 the following day when dd2 goes out with nana or grandpa, I am lucky as i get help from family. The best think i find about nights is earning almost full time money but only being out two or 3 nights. You get used to having little sleep after a while . Does your little one sleep in the day when my dd was little i used to sleep when she did which helped.
