I have come home today to find a letter with a redundancy offer

from my exP who I work for. He has given me seven days to respond to the letter expiring today. I only received the letter today and have had no chance to reply to it nor to obtain any legal advice over the weekend. What do I do?

Karen, sorry I can't help but try posting here - I've seen SarEl give some very good advice.

What response do you need to give? Is it a letter saying that the company are considering making redundancies? Is it notification that your role has been made redundant?

ACAS have a guide to redundancy, there is a procedure that should be followed.

Have you been there long enough to get redundancy pay? Does the letter state the amount that will be paid, plus any garden leave/pay in lieu of notice?

Is it worth fighting over, or getting the best settlement you can?

It is something like that - but a bit vague. I am not entirely sure what response to give so I will wait and hope yo get hold of my solicitor first thing tomorrow morning. I should get the maximum redundancy pay, but I may challenge the redundancy and blame his poor management skills and suggest he lets me take over the business. Grin
